Celebrating the youth

What words of wisdom would you tell your younger self? Here are some examples for you to ponder.

Be you

There’s one person that you have to live with for the rest of your life, and that’s you.

Be your own best friend. Spend time listening to what your body, mind, and soul are craving. Don’t compare yourself to others, especially on social media which is an illusion. Be the best you that you can be.  Learn from your mistakes without beating yourself up; nobody is perfect. Celebrate your “wins,” and don’t worry so much about what others think. The only person you’re competing with in life is yourself, so be stronger than you were the day before, and make yourself proud.

Prioritise wellness

Mental and physical health is foundational to your well-being. Like anything important, you may not realise how critical it is until you no longer have it. The lifestyle choices you make today will have consequences. Wear that sunscreen, get enough sleep, hydrate, and move regularly. Connect with a power greater than yourself by spending time in nature, meditating, deep breathing, and being grateful. It’s the best way to shift a negative mindset and choose uplifting thoughts.

Choose wisely

The most valuable currency in the world is time. Be conscious of how and who you spend it with. Look up from your phone, and engage with the world. It’s essential to build a strong support system of friends and family. Science informs us that we adopt the frequency, or become like the people we hang out with the most. Invest your energy and time with people and experiences that feed your soul. Things change and people change – don’t be afraid to bless and release friendships you might outgrow.

Have faith

Life is like the ocean and the waves come whether we like it or not. We need to learn to ride the waves and trust that this too shall pass. Even in the greatest depths of darkness, light is on its way. Hold on tight and breathe. Nothing lasts forever, so-called “good” or “bad.Accept this fact and find the magic and blessings in every moment.

Spend some time with a younger person this Youth Day and share your wisdom to help guide and develop their values and principles to become the best version of themselves.
